Fireworks

Fire-painted sky at night
Colours jostling brief and bright
Purple, blue and red and green
And other colours in between

Thunder and Lightning!
That's surely fright'ning!
But the barely tamed fire
In childish hearts inspire!

Shrieking missiles and fiery rain
Echoes joy that's fear restrained
Thunderburst of awesome power
Summons the brilliance of the night sky flower

Violent blossoms of beauty briefly rise
Fading into a million eyes
Smoke and ashes ride the breeze
And darkness settles again upon the seas
